[ET Net News Agency, 8 January 2026] Full-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$268.27 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$43.36 billion, or 16.16% of the
market's turnover. There were 814 short-selling stocks. HSCEI ETF (02828) and BABA-W
(09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$6.64 billion and HK$3.2
billion, or 15.32% and 7.38% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 41.26% and 20.85% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and MEITUAN-W (03690) registered HK$2.31 billion and HK$1.84
billion of short sales, accounting for 5.34% and 4.23% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 11.57% and 25.3% of respective stock's
turnover.
HSCEI ETF closed down HK$1.22, or 1.3%, to HK$92.48. BABA-W ended down HK$3.3, or 2.26%,
to HK$142.6. TRACKER FUND fell HK$0.34, or 1.28% to HK$26.32. MEITUAN-W declined by
HK$3.5, or 3.35%, to HK$101.
