[ET Net News Agency, 19 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$132.94 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$14.32 billion, or 10.77% of the
market's turnover. There were 770 short-selling stocks. HSCEI ETF (02828) and TRACKER FUND
(02800) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.46 billion and HK$1.22
billion, or 10.2% and 8.5% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 25.29% and 13.48% of respective stock's turnover.
XIAOMI-W (01810) and BABA-W (09988) registered HK$792.64 million and HK$755.98 million
of short sales, accounting for 5.53% and 5.28% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 23.88% and 11.05% of respective stock's
turnover.
HSCEI ETF closed down HK$0.76, or 0.8%, to HK$93.76. TRACKER FUND ended down HK$0.24, or
0.89%, to HK$26.8. XIAOMI-W fell HK$0.7, or 1.89% to HK$36.4. BABA-W declined by HK$5.5,
or 3.31%, to HK$160.7.
