[ET Net News Agency, 23 December 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$68
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$8.71 billion, or 12.8% of the market's
turnover. There were 616 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and BABA-W (09988) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.12 billion and HK$577.97 million, or
12.91% and 6.64% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
20.72% and 23.05% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and SMIC (00981) registered HK$469.9 million and HK$463.21 million
of short sales, accounting for 5.4% and 5.32% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 10.47% and 12.97% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed down HK$5, or 1.17%, to HK$421.4. BABA-W ended up HK$0.7, or 0.87%, to
HK$80.8. TRACKER FUND rose HK$0.11, or 0.55% to HK$20. SMIC jumped HK$0.6, or 2.12%, to
HK$28.9.
