Description

"Pizzicati" was spontaneously formed by several members in 2011 and officially registered as a non-profit arts organization in 2013. The ensemble aims to promote Chinese music, blend traditional and innovative styles, and explore the possibilities of integrating Chinese and Western music.

The ensemble is composed of Liuqin and Ruan family instruments from the Chinese plucked-string section. Most members received training from the Music Office since childhood, winning numerous awards at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival over the years; several members were even selected as RTHK "Young Music Makers" in 2011. Members also actively participate in other Chinese orchestras, performing extensively both locally and overseas (including Mainland China, Taiwan, and the UK). Since its establishment, besides holding regular concerts, "Tuning Music" has been invited to perform publicly in Hong Kong, Macao, and Wuhan, collaborating with several local composers to premiere their works. In 2016, "Tuning Music" was invited for the third time by the Macao Cheong Hong Music Association to perform in the concert "Distant Sounds of Plucked Strings: Ruan Special," sharing the stage with Ruan virtuosos from the four regions across the Taiwan Strait. In April 2018, the ensemble was invited again to Macao to perform in a Liuqin special concert organized by the same association, once more taking the stage alongside prominent performers from across the region.
